Admiral

Dessert apple. Propagated in 1921 by Mr. A. Watson of Upton, from pips brought back from Japan. Originally called ‘Togo of Upton’ but renamed ‘Admiral’ around 1940. Once grown commercially on a small scale in the Broads where it was sold as ‘Gloria’. Medium-sized, mostly green in colour, sometimes with an orange flush and usually slightly russeted. Firm and sweet flesh.
