Dessert apple. Raised by horticulturalist Gavin Brown at the John Innes Institute at Bayfordbury in 1956, by crossing Merton Worcester and a scab-resistant variety (Jonathan x Malus floribunda x Rome Beauty). A medium sized apple, Cox-like in appearance and with a sweet, rich, juicy flesh. Has good resistance to scab, canker and mildew.
