Hambling’s Seedling

Cooking apple
Raised by William Hambling of Dunstable and first recorded in 1894. A large yellow skinned apple with an occasional orange flush. Coarse, firm acidic flesh. Keeps shape well when cooked. It is a triploid variety so requires two other apple varieties of the same or adjacent pollination group nearby for successful cropping.

Pick mid-Oct and use from Nov-Jan/Mar.
