Nolan Pippin

Dessert apple. A small golden yellow skinned russetted apple not unlike the variety Nonpareil. Very intense and complex taste which diminishes with storage. Samples were first sent to the National Fruit Collection by Mrs Woodward of Colchester in 1920. Recent DNA analysis has revealed it as a likely parent of the Gloucester apple Ashmeads Kernel, which dates to around 1700. This evidence suggests Nolan Pippin is a very old variety.
