Dessert apple
Raised by Laxton Bros. of Bedford in 1897 and introduced 1920. It is a cross of the apple varieties Cox’s Orange Pippin and Gladstone and was named after Queen Victoria’s gardener. Greenish skinned flushed orange with scarlet stripes. Quite greasy. Aromatic, sweet juicy flesh.
