EEAOP is a registered charity and membership organisation. We promote the planting of local orchard fruit varieties and the preservation of orchards in the east of England. The region’s heritage includes around 270 varieties of apple, pear, plum and cherry and their orchard habitat. Since the 1960s we’ve lost over 60% of the orchard habitat across our region, so it’s important that what remains is valued, new orchards are created, and local varieties unique to our region survive for the future.

Local fruit varieties are special for their connections with people and places, as a food crop, and for their genetic diversity. Orchards are good for wildlife and enhance the local landscape.

EEAOP is based at West Raynham Business Park near Fakenham in Norfolk and is managed by a Board of Trustees / Directors elected from its members.
